Thoughts

  1. definitely need some time to think about how to do this effectively. and make it all the more better.
  2. but always from the top of my head, it is important that I localize and contextualize the stuff I write for each application too! ⇒ no such thing as a general one to be used for all
  3. because that being said, the goal now is to NOT just apply because I have to, but because I want to ⇒ i.e. things will be more targeted and intentional now
  4. and I hope… that what I find, comes finding me too

about a sabbatical

Over the past year, I made the conscious decision to take a sabbatical from academia—a pause that, in hindsight, has extended longer than I had planned. This journey has been shaped by my conviction that stepping away from the traditional path would allow me to deepen my skills as an independent architectural technologist and contribute more meaningfully to both my field and my family.

While this sabbatical may ultimately lead me to leave my program at NUS, it stems from genuine self-reflection and a desire to pursue real-world challenges. This period has enabled me to advance my technical expertise—bridging design, documentation, and fabrication in complex BIM environments and reinforced my commitment to innovating within practice rather than solely in academia.

At the heart of this choice is a responsibility: to create avenues for personal and professional growth, and to support my family during a challenging time. I am now keen to channel these experiences and skills into a role where I can make a tangible impact, collaborate with forward-thinking teams, and continue learning, especially in ambitious practices such as WOHA.
